We have rolled our prices back to mid 1990’s levels. This is a short video that you’ll want to watch that explains the price changes and improvements to our courses. Please take a moment to watch and share with your friends. Then ask yourself, why would the big bar reviews charge 5 times* the amount of Celebration Bar Review, even though Celebration has the higher pass rate and...

Official California Bar Exam Pass Rates: Crazy...
Here’s the PressRelease from the CA Bar Examiners’ Web Site. The “official” overall pass rate was only 42.2%, with only 53% of first time takers passing and a 37% pass rate for repeat takers. This is the lowest official pass rate in the country that I’m aware of for the Feb test, and frankly, it’s just crazy. There’s no justification for a test that is...

Bad Advice from Bar Taker "Friends"
Sometimes I get notes from prospective students that just break my heart. Here’s one that I received this morning (the day after Florida Results were released): “I am really confused here [about] my options. I took both parts of the Florida Bar Exam in July 2011 and I passed part 1 with a score of 142 and failed the MBE part with a score of 128 ( which is just below the average of the...

Waiting for Exam Results
I’m sure you’re aware that bar results will be released over the next few weeks in different jurisdictions and I know the anxiety that can provide… In light of world events, and in these extraordinary times, I think perspective is an important, if not vital tool for each of us to have as the time comes closer for the bar results to be released. I share the following thoughts...

Why do we price our eBooks at $9.95?
If you’ve been looking for bar review eBooks lately, you may have noticed that our Celebration Bar Review books are now available in epub and pdf file formats for $9.95 per title. That’s a ridiculously low price for these books, particularly when you consider that the print copies sell for as much as 5 times that amount. So why the difference? A couple of reasons, really: It’s...

If they're REALLY the best...
There’s something I’ve been wondering about for a while now. It seems like every year in the springtime, the big bar review companies start spending a ton of money (think millions of dollars) to convince law students that their course is the “best.” That doesn’t make much sense to me and here’s why… If the big guys really are the best (as they claim) and...

What is the Court Thinking? →
This NY Times piece by Linda Greenhouse gives a thoughtful view to the Supreme Court’s decision making process in the recent strip search case and suggests how it may foreshadow the upcoming health care rulings. This is an insightful piece worth reading for any SCt watchers…or those impacted by their decisions.

It's All In Your Head
I rarely give up an entire post to someone else, but one of my “heroes” is Bill Harris, the founder and CEO of Centerpointe Research and the developer of the Holosync meditation system. His unique methodology has been employed by many of our bar review students as part of our Successful Test Application Resources (“STAR”) with incredible success. Bill recently sent out an...

California Bar Exam Results Explained
The July 2011 CA Bar Exam results showed once again that the State’s overall pass rates are awful. The overall pass rate was 54.8%, by far the lowest in the nation. While we at Celebration Bar Review had much higher overall pass rates (close to 70%) that’s still a significant number of failures and it’s caused me to spend some time trying to analyze the bigger picture of...

I know it sounds weird, but by doing routine things in a different way (like putting the milk in the bowl BEFORE the cereal) it appears that you can stimulate your brain to more creative problem solving. That’s a simple way to prepare yourself for the bar exam! Check the story out by clicking on the title above for the link…

Distractions - are they all bad? →
We tend to think of any distractions from study as a “bad” thing, but in fact, there can be real intrinsic value in distracting our brains for a short while and then returning to the task. In this NY Times article by Hanif Kureishi, a playwright, screenwriter and novelist, the “Art of Distraction” is thoughtfully analyzed. It’s a good read!
